This is a pivotal role at the heart of the University’s governance and decision-making, and a key member of our Executive Team. As we continue to strengthen our institutional effectiveness and deliver against our strategic ambitions, the role of University Secretary is central to ensuring that our governance, legal and regulatory frameworks are robust, agile and aligned to the needs of a modern, forward-looking university.
We are seeking an experienced and authoritative leader who brings deep expertise in governance, legal and regulatory matters, alongside the judgement and credibility to operate at the most senior levels of the institution. You will be a trusted adviser to the Chair of Council, Council members and the Vice-Chancellor, supporting effective governance, informed decision-making and strong institutional accountability.
This is a role that requires both precision and perspective: ensuring that our constitutional and regulatory responsibilities are met, while also contributing to the wider leadership and strategic direction of the University. You will play a vital role in maintaining strong and effective relationships between the governing body and the executive, and in ensuring that governance supports, rather than constrains, institutional ambition.
The University of Bradford is defined by its commitment to inclusion, social mobility, academic excellence and real-world impact. We are ambitious for our future and clear about our purpose, and this role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to that journey at the most senior level.
